It’s the night after the night before. Mixology 15 is done and dusted and, with heads still spinning and eyes starting to close, we’re relaxing by watching a bit of Glastonbury.
Our eyes are suddenly wide open and our heads are clear, however, when we realise that ‘our’ superstar DJ – the one and only legend that is Grandmaster Flash – is on our screens, and on the Glasto stage with Mark Ronson. Honestly, that Ronson is always following us!
Seriously though, Flash produced an awesome set for this year’s Mixology – the 10th anniversary of this groundbreaking event – delighting the 1,000 guests, who filled the dancefloor from first to final track.
Our guests had enjoyed a near-perfect evening, with warm temperatures and sunshine adding to the amazing setting for the drinks reception on the bank of the Thames, before an equally enjoyable dinner and much-anticipated awards.
We would like to thank everyone who entered this year’s awards – it was fantastic to see such a record number of (incredibly high quality) entries.
The big winners on the night were Deadgood, who became the first company to do the ‘slam’ of holding last tear’s Mixology North and this year’s Mixology Manufacturer of the Year, Manchester’s NoChintz, who scooped Design Practice of the Year, and Bisley’s Tony Brown, who was deservedly presented with the Henry Pugh Lifetime Achievement Award.
As ever, there are a number of people we need to thank for all their hard work, expertise and support. No one continues to support us more than our lovely sponsors – so thank you to Alea, Bisley, Camira, Colebrook Bosson Saunders, Era, Interface, Johnson Tiles, KI, Mesh, Orangebox, Panaz, Parcour, Plus Finance, Task and Umbrella.
Also, a huge thank you to Sketch for providing the Mixology 10th Anniversary champagne for all of our guests, to the BCFA the table booklet, to Herman Miller for the cool Kivo product which looked resplendent in the bar area, and to Connection for the fun and incredibly busy photo booth. It was also great to see so many people getting involved in our Twitter Wall, which ran on the screens throughout the night.
Thanks to Alex Burgess for the opening video montage and the Mixology visuals and branding – and thanks to our resident photographer Philip Vile and to our friends at Armourcoat for the brilliant Mixology trophies.
Thank you to everyone at Billingsgate (the best event space in London) and to the culinary wizards at Create.
Last, but by no means least, a huge thank you to our awards judges for their time, efforts and expertise. So thank you to: BDP’s Mark Simpson, Edge Design’s Steve Edge, JLL’s Kane Wagstaff, Lend Lease’s Lucy Homer, Oktra’s Shaun Baker and Neil Usher from Sky.
Thanks also to our Student Award judging panel, which comprised: Nigel Coutts of BDP, Scott Brownrigg’s Anna Breheny, Steen Olsen from Fritz Hansen, Ercol’s Dylan Freeth , KI’s Jonathan Hindle and Cherrill Scheer.
Actually, there is one final, final thank you we’d like to make – and that’s to our guests, who, for ten years now have fully embraced the night and really do make Mixology the event it is.
And next year, Ronson, come up with your own ideas!
