Bespoke rug by Clerkenwell Rug Studio

Mixology award-winning Clerkenwell Rug Studio is celebrating six years in business with the launch of a competition for those Little Stay at Home Heroes, the studio’s Founder and MD, Rachael Connolly, tells us.

Rachael is looking to get those little creative minds working, encouraging young’uns to get out their crayons and paints and produce original, colourful, nature-inspired designs.

There are two age categories (5-9 and 10-13), with two fantastic prizes. The winners will receive a beautiful handmade rug, made by the studio’s talented rug makers right here in Britain. The rug will be in the winner’s design and colours – and Clerkenwell Rug Studio will then copy these designs and gift two more splendid rugs to our NHS heroes.

Here’s what you need to know:
  • Your design must be inspired by NATURE – it can be anything from the world outside, the animal kingdom, the seaside, plants, forest.
  • Your design should be a simple design
  • Your drawing and design should be your own work
  • You can use up to 8 colours
  • The drawing should be A3 or A4
  • You can use paint, colouring pens, crayons or markers to draw your design

Don’t forget to include a short story about what inspired your design.

  • You can choose to design a circular rug or a rectangular rug.
  • The maximum size of the winning rugs will be 2m diameter circle and the rectangular rug will be 2m x 2.5m
  • The closing date is July 31st 2020
  • You should send your design by post but if you can’t get to a post box you can use Adobe Scan App to photograph and submit your drawing with your entry form
Go to www.clerkenwellrugstudio.co.uk for further information – and get those little ones designing.
Who knows, we might be looking at a future 30under30 winner.
