Agua creates new sustainable VerdEco range from recycled textile waste

VerdEco is Agua’s first truly sustainable high-performance contract upholstery fabric, made with zero water from 100% recycled material.

13/09/2022 1 min read

Agua’s new VerdEco collection is produced from pre-consumer textile waste; by-product materials from fibre, yarn and woven fabric. These waste products are collected and mechanically recycled into granules, which are then re-spun into yarn, re-woven, quality checked and shipped to Agua in recycled packaging.

By using zero water in its production, an average of 250 litres of water is saved when upholstering a three-seat sofa in VerdEco. As a water-free fabric, VerdEco is chemical-free too, and uses significantly less energy in its production than conventional upholstery fabric.

Yarn colours are carefully composed from recycled fibre and checked for consistency by the mill before weaving, with 35 shades available across a rich mix of melange colours.

Suitable for a wide range of commercial interior spaces, VerdEco is crib 5 and IMO inherent, with no back-coating needed to achieve the fire retardant standards.
