Meneghello Paolelli Associati have created a flexible and innovative collection of chairs for the Italian manufacturer, using the same element for both backrest and seat.
SI-SI is a smart chair, which doesn’t base its strength on purely the aesthetic aspect, says designers Meneghello Paolelli Associati. Content is king – with SI-SI, S•CAB and Meneghello Paolelli Associati have interpreted the subtle balance between indoor and outdoor furniture, with a standard frame and various bodies with different textures and materials that make it suitable for multiple environments.
The result is an eclectic, multi-material seat with aesthetic strength and substance, made up of four basic models, with characterising details: SI-SI (smooth texture), SI-SI DOTS (dotted texture), SI-SI BARCODE (texture with vertical cuts), and SI-SI WOOD (seat and backrest with wooden slats).
‘With SI-SI we focused on optimising the industrial process of the chair from its production up to the supply of ‘codes’ in the warehouse. Frame + seat + backrest: this is the typical construction syntax of a chair,’ says Meneghello Paolelli Associati. ‘We have streamlined the frame to which a single body is fixed, which can act both as a backrest and as a seat. Hence the name SI-SI, a sound repeated twice, or better yet an element repeated twice!’
SI-SI is formed of galvanised and painted steel frame (dove grey or anthracite), slats (seat and back) in sapele mahogany treated for outdoor use, and is available in a subdued palette of linen, taupe, anthracite, terracotta, air force blue or olive green.
