From 21 – 23 May, Arper will be joining the rest of the design industry on the bustling streets of Clerkenwell for one of the UK’s leading independent design festivals, celebrating the creativity of London’s EC1 neighbourhood and its diverse community. The Italian furniture manufacturer is contributing its own programme of must-see events, exhibitions and special installations, to be held at the brand’s dedicated Clerkenwell showroom.
The newly restyled Arper showroom will explore the theme ‘What makes the project of living?’, with visitors encouraged to discover what ‘the project of living’ means for the brand: furniture is designed to meet the needs of a constantly evolving world, flexible and cross-cutting solutions for moments of work, meeting, waiting, and relaxation. The journey leads guests through an immersive experience, discovering collections that engage with evocative and suggestive narratives of the various situations we experience every day.
Moderated by design journalist Katie Treggiden, on the first day of Clerkenwell Design Week the Arper showroom will be home to ‘Redefining beauty through circularity and innovative materials’, an engaging debate around the impact of innovative materials and their applications in practice, aimed at achieving circularity in design.
Panellists include Roberto Monti, CEO at Arper; Joanna Wilson, Sustainability Lead at Fletcher Priest Architects; Fabian Hardt, Designer at PaperShell; and Henna Burney, Researcher and Designer at LUMA Arles. Following the panel discussion, the Clerkenwell Road showroom will celebrate the start the by hosting its exclusive, invite-only Opening Night Party.
When: Tuesday 21 May, 16:00–18:00
Where: Arper showroom, 11 Clerkenwell Road, EC1M 5PA London
To celebrate the launch of Arper’s Catifa Carta collection, the showroom will host RSVP-only biochar terrarium workshops run by Plant Designs. Guests are invited to create their own terrarium by getting hands on using biochar, an environmentally friendly material that improves soil health and fertility while reducing CO2 emissions. Visitors will also be able to find out more about PaperShell, the pioneering material featured on Catifa Carta’s re-engineered shell that can be reduced to biochar itself at the end of its life cycle.
When: Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 May
Where: Arper showroom, 11 Clerkenwell Road, EC1M 5PA London
As well as interactive workshops and panel discussions, Arper is unveiling an array of new 2024 collections at this year’s festival, designed by well-renowned industry names including Lievore Altherr Molina, Doshi Levien, Jean-Marie Massaud, Altherr Désile Park and Simon Pengelly.
The iconic Catifa 53 enters a new era through a partnership in material innovation with a re-engineered shell made of PaperShell, a revolutionary new material made of composite wood by-product. PaperShell dramatically reduces Catifa Carta’s impact on the environment by sequestering carbon dioxide. At the end of its life cycle, the material can be reduced to biochar, successfully retaining the CO2 sequestered during the previous life phases.

The Steeve Lou sofa features new cushioning foam technologies in combination with an ergonomic seat depth and high backrests for sitting up or lounging, for residential and professional settings alike.
