tp bennett designs a fresh new spot for Aviva at EightyFen
A transparent, community-focused office design represents a milestone in the organisation's commitment to creating positive workspaces.
Gatehouse Apartments in Southampton comprise 132 units, a gym, co-working space and residents’ lounge, private dining area and outdoor terrace. Tasked with the interior design of the amenity space, Dexter Moren Associates were inspired by the local industry, trade and transit that have always been at the heart of Southampton.
Artworks positioned throughout the space are reminiscent of Southampton’s industrial history. These sit alongside books and decorative items that give a sense of place to the articles and aspects of local history. The amenity spaces have been partitioned from the entrance; a multi-functional co-working / lounge area contains a cosy corner working banquette, high tables and a raised seating area nook. These spaces play with both complex industrial elements, such as metal mesh, timber, glass, and softer aspects such as recycled fabrics, plastics, acoustic panels and sheers, which subtly connect the interior spaces to the local area. The feature joinery wall sits in the heart of the amenity space. With playful rectilinear aspects it pulls in the kitchen and events space creating a sense of community.
