A few minutes’ walk from Central London, 38,000sq ft of premium office space at Sixty London Wall has been converted into Mondrian Investment Partners’ cutting-edge headquarters.
The fit-out has given interior designers MAWD and workplace design and build specialists Peldon Rose the ideal opportunity to curate a space which maximises employee comfort and wellbeing while fostering today’s need for in-person and virtual collaboration.
James White, co-founder of MAWD, said: “Working closely in conjunction with Peldon Rose, we started with Mondrian’s team, understanding their needs as an organisation and their people’s priorities.”
White continued: “We then looked to create a space that would captivate their team, one with real cross-generational appeal that prioritises conscious design through the use of innovative recycled materials.”
MAWD’s design choice in the arrival areas greets workers with a palette consisting of refined timbers and metals. This raw industrial yet natural feel transitions through to social spaces where light is brought to the forefront. Colder months welcome a fireplace for employees to gather round and brighter days are to be enjoyed with a 6,000 sq ft outdoor terrace – boasting a laptop bar and panoramic view of the capital.
Russell Glover, Head of Design at Peldon Rose, said: “Every detail, from material choices to furniture and lighting, and how people interact with the space have been considered to deliver a workplace that sets the standard for both sustainability and design. This flagship office will be a huge draw for Mondrian’s team and clients.”
Environmentally conscious design is at the forefront of not only Mondrian’s brief, but also the building the investment firm sits within. Sixty London Wall is one of the few workspaces in London certified BREEAM Outstanding, and one of a handful in the UK who has achieved Gold SKA certification.
Taking into consideration the needs of a growing business, there’s plenty of work areas for employees to come together too, but in a shared setting that mimics a hotel’s welcoming warmth – rather than that of a stereotypical corporate office.
The space has been devised so there’s ample room for group work, while also appreciating the need for those who require complete focus. Each worker has their own desk kitted out with high-end technical infrastructure, plus access to quiet zones and designated Zoom booths to optimise meeting quality and limit privacy constraints.
With completion in November 2020, Sixty London Wall is one of the areas more recent additions. Serving as a premium-hub in close proximity to a myriad of transport links, location is certainly a winning factor for employees venturing into the city from each direction.
Mondrian’s main motive behind the renovation is to bring office workers back to an alluring space suitable for all – one that compliments the home working experience.
Clive Gillmore, Mondrian’s CEO said: “The office we received from MAWD and Peldon Rose, and I’m now sitting in, has exceeded my highest expectations. It superbly balances design and practicality, space and light, capturing at once the feel of high-end hospitality whilst meeting the multi-various needs of employees, regardless of the way they work.”
