Baker McKenzieu0092s workplace at 280 Bishopsgate showcases the best things about being part of Baker McKenzie. It confidently expresses who and what they stand for: strengthening internal, external and global networks, it pushes the boundaries beyond the expectations of a Law Firm. It is bold, effortless and operationally excellent, and puts the clients’ needs at the heart of what they do. Most importantly, it is a collective experience for all to share; clients, staff and visitors.

The project was entirely briefed and designed in the Covid-19 pandemic, which gave freedom to rethink how the future legal workplace could work. Built around respect, friendship and a genuine care for one another, it was important that the workplace strategy and design supported these foundations of diversity, inclusion and equity. The diverse client base drove a solution that provides a variety of meeting, connecting and entertainment spaces where the traditional boundaries are blurred without compromising confidentiality. The dining tables are made from Eucalyptus, which is fast-growing and renewable, rather than hardwood. The furniture was selected for finishes that are hardwearing and environmentally friendly. Office chairs, desks and meeting tables are all modular, meaning that part replacement can happen and will enhance their lifespan.
