Design and build studio AW Spaces was given a brief to create a workspace that entices, inspires and counterbalances the needs of hybrid working at Triple Point. Honing in on ‘hybrid working’ meaning more than flexible desks, the investment management firm remodelled to suit everyone – regardless of their working style.
“It is all about the spaces on offer [and] the approach to aural architecture to provide variety,” says Lisa McLeod, AW Spaces’ Design Director. A mixture of private meeting rooms, pods and booths were added to the office floorplate, alongside ‘quiet’ working spaces and collaborative areas for teams to bounce ideas around. “We are noticing that people do want that more comfortable zone in their workplace where they can get away from their workload and socialise and have a good cup of coffee and relax, so protecting these important spaces is also really important.”
A crucial component in the design, smart technology was implemented to create a truly fluid workspace. Now, employees can easily book desks, meeting rooms and quiet spaces so they have access to an environment that complements their workload.
“We are a young, vibrant, fun place to work, and AW Spaces put our people at the heart of the office design,” comments Hannah Terry, Business Operations Manager at Triple Point. “This included bringing in more colour and materials that could be personalised and areas where people could easily come together and connect.”
In line with Triple Point’s core values, a sustainable approach was taken to the refit. “This reflects in the re-use of carpet in less prominent areas, re-use and re-manufacture of some furniture also, and we retained the kitchen, but added to it,” continues Lisa McLeod, AW Spaces’ Design Director. Where reuse wasn’t an option, natural materials were selected including cork, a component produced from tree bark which is non-reliant on trees being chopped down. In the kitchen, worktops were constructed by Smile Plastics, a substance moulded from 100% recycled plastics.
AW Spaces opted for Tarkett’s Desso Linon carpet tiles throughout the main working space due to its ‘cradle-to-cradle’ accreditation. Elsewhere in the kitchen, Marmoleum by Forbo was the flooring choice, comprised of 97% natural materials. A range of hand-selected fabrics in the refit came from Camira and Kvadrat who both favour a sustainable approach in their production. For meeting rooms, the Camper and Den range was used by Orangebox thanks to its reconfiguration capabilities and eco-friendly credentials.
