The private members club and dining concept are the latest additions to the five-star property, part of the Taj Hotel group.
Conran and Partners has unveiled its latest project: a new private members club, restaurant and bar concept at St James’ Court, London, part of the Taj Hotel portfolio. It forms part of a wider collaboration between the design studio and hotel group, with Conran and Partners also involved in the currently under construction Taj The Trees in Mumbai.
The Chambers is the first private members club for Taj Hotels outside of India, where it operates a number of Chambers spaces. Occupying part of the ground floor, the club incorporates the Indian heritage of the brand within a listed Victorian building, in the heart of Westminster. Members enter the club through a mirrored anteroom, which connects Chambers to the hotel’s foyer and the TH@51 restaurant, a parallel project that formed part of the major renovation by Conran and Partners.
At Chambers, members are greeted with a dramatic marble-clad bar and luxurious chartreuse velvet stools, complemented by warm under-bar lighting. A sculptural and informal seating area flows from the bar towards banquettes in the windows, intended for dining or informal business meetings. Bespoke contemporary artwork is curated by Dais Contemporary.
At TH@51, an English garden-inspired design concept manifests in elegant wood cladding and a soft colour palette. An open kitchen with a theatrical grill and chef’s table takes centre stage, while the bar area features intimate booth seating. Guests enter through a mirrored lobby, with bespoke wallpaper inspired by botanical illustrations. The centrepiece of the semi-circular main dining space is a bespoke lighting feature in bold fluted glass and brass.
